GODWAY:
[EX 4:29-31] Moses and Aaron brought together all the elders of the Israelites, [30] and Aaron
told them everything the LORD had said to Moses. He also performed the signs
before the people, [31] and they believed. And when they heard that the
LORD was concerned about them and had seen their misery, they bowed down
and worshiped.
[EX 19:7-9] So Moses went back and summoned the elders of the people and
set before them all the words the LORD had commanded him to speak. [8] The
people all responded together, "We will do everything the LORD has said."
So Moses brought their answer back to the LORD.
EX 19:9 The LORD said to Moses, "I am going to come to you in a dense
cloud, so that the people will hear me speaking with you and will always
put their trust in you."
[LK 9:1-6] When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them
power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, [2] and
he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. [3]
He told them: "Take nothing for
the journey--no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra tunic. [4] Whatever
house you enter, stay there until you leave that town. [5] If people do
not welcome you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave their town,
as a testimony against them."
[6] So they set out and went from village to village, preaching the gospel
and healing people everywhere.
[LK 24:33-36] They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they
found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together [34] and saying,
"It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon." [35]
Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized
by them when he broke the bread.
LK 24:36 While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among
them and said to them, "Peace
be with you."
[JN 20:20-22] After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The
disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.
JN 20:21 Again Jesus said, "Peace
be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." [22] And with that he breathed on them and said,
"Receive the Holy Spirit."
[AC 1:12-14] Then they returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount
of Olives, a Sabbath day's walk from the city. [13] When they arrived, they
went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter,
John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James
son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. [14] They
all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and
Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
[AC 2:1-4] When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together
in one place. [2] Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came
from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. [3] They
saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on
each of them. [4] All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began
to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
[AC 2:42-47] They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the
fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. [43] Everyone was filled
with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles.
[44] All the believers were together and had everything in common. [45] Selling their
possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. [46] Every day
they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their
homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, [47] praising God
and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number
daily those who were being saved.
[AC 5:12-20] The apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders among
the people. And all the believers used to meet together in Solomon's
Colonnade. [13] No one else dared join them, even though they were highly
regarded by the people. [14] Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed
in the Lord and were added to their number. [15] As a result, people brought
the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least
Peter's shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. [16] Crowds gathered
also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented
by evil spirits, and all of them were healed.
[AC 6:1-7] In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Grecian Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. [2] So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, "It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. [3] Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them [4] and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word."
AC 6:5 This proposal pleased the whole
group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit; also
Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a
convert to Judaism. [6] They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed
and laid their hands on them.
AC 6:7 So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased
rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.
Paul and Barnabus
[AC 14:21-28] They preached the good news in that city and won a large number
of disciples. Then they returned to Lystra, Iconium and Antioch, [22] strengthening
the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. "We
must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God," they said.
[23] Paul and Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church and, with
prayer and fasting, committed them to the Lord, in whom they had put their
trust. [24] After going through Pisidia, they came into Pamphylia, [25]
and when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.
AC 14:26 From Attalia they sailed back
to Antioch, where they had been committed to the grace of God for the work
they had now completed. [27] On arriving there, they gathered the church
together and reported all that God had done through them and how he had
opened the door of faith to the Gentiles. [28] And they stayed there a long
time with the disciples.
[AC 15:22-35] Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided
to choose some of their own men and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas.
They chose Judas (called Barsabbas) and Silas, two men who were leaders
among the brothers. [23] With them they sent the following letter:
The apostles and elders, your brothers,
To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia:
Greetings.
AC 15:24 We have heard that some went out from us without our authorization
and disturbed you, troubling your minds by what they said. [25] So we all
agreed to choose some men and send them to you with our dear friends Barnabas
and Paul-- [26] men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord
Jesus Christ. [27] Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to confirm by
word of mouth what we are writing. [28] It seemed good to the Holy Spirit
and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements:
[29] You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from
the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well
to avoid these things. Farewell.
AC 15:30 The men were sent off and went
down to Antioch, where they gathered the church together and delivered
the letter. [31] The people read it and were glad for its encouraging message.
[32] Judas and Silas, who themselves were prophets, said much to encourage
and strengthen the brothers. [33] After spending some time there, they were
sent off by the brothers with the blessing of peace to return to those who
had sent them. [35] But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, where they
and many others taught and preached the word of the Lord.
[RO 6:5-7] If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly
also be united with him in his resurrection. [6] For we know that our old self
was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with,
that we should no longer be slaves to sin-- [7] because anyone who has died
has been freed from sin.
[1CO 1:10] I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions
among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.
Finale:
[PHP 4:4-8]
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness
be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but
in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests
to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard
your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right,
whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything
is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.

The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and
be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.
