[DT 4:9] Only be careful, and watch yourselves
closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let
them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children
and to their children after them.
[DT 4:16] So that you do not become corrupt and make for yourselves an idol,
an image of any shape, whether formed like a man or a woman, [17] or like
any animal on earth or any bird that flies in the air, [18] or like any
creature that moves along the ground or any fish in the waters below. [19]
And when you look up to the sky and see the sun, the moon and the stars--all
the heavenly array--do not be enticed into bowing down to them and worshiping
things the LORD your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven.
[20] But as for you, the LORD took you and brought you out of the iron-smelting
furnace, out of Egypt, to be the people of his inheritance, as you now are.
DT 4:21 The LORD was angry with me because of you, and he solemnly swore
that I would not cross the Jordan and enter the good land the LORD your
God is giving you as your inheritance. [22] I will die in this land; I will
not cross the Jordan; but you are about to cross over and take possession
of that good land. [23] Be careful not to forget the covenant of the LORD
your God that he made with you; do not make for yourselves an idol in the
form of anything the LORD your God has forbidden. [24] For the LORD your
God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.
DT 4:25 After you have had children and grandchildren and have lived in
the land a long time--if you then become corrupt and make any kind of idol,
doing evil in the eyes of the LORD your God and provoking him to anger,
[26] I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you this day that you
will quickly perish from the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess.
You will not live there long but will certainly be destroyed. [27] The LORD
will scatter you among the peoples, and only a few of you will survive among
the nations to which the LORD will drive you. [28] There you will worship
man-made gods of wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or eat or smell.
[29] But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if
you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul. [30] When you
are in distress and all these things have happened to you, then in later
days you will return to the LORD your God and obey him. [31] For the LORD
your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you or forget
the covenant with your forefathers, which he confirmed to them by oath.
[DT 4:32] Ask now about the former days, long
before your time, from the day God created man on the earth; ask from one
end of the heavens to the other. Has anything so great as this ever happened,
or has anything like it ever been heard of? [33] Has any other people heard
the voice of God speaking out of fire, as you have, and lived? [34] Has
any god ever tried to take for himself one nation out of another nation,
by testings, by miraculous signs and wonders, by war, by a mighty hand and
an outstretched arm, or by great and awesome deeds, like all the things
the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your very eyes?
DT 4:35 You were shown these things so that you might know that the LORD
is God; besides him there is no other. [36] From heaven he made you hear
his voice to discipline you. On earth he showed you his great fire, and
you heard his words from out of the fire. [37] Because he loved your forefathers
and chose their descendants after them, he brought you out of Egypt by his
Presence and his great strength, [38] to drive out before you nations greater
and stronger than you and to bring you into their land to give it to you
for your inheritance, as it is today.
DT 4:39 Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the LORD is God in heaven
above and on the earth below. There is no other. [40] Keep his decrees and
commands, which I am giving you today, so that it may go well with you and
your children after you and that you may live long in the land the LORD
your God gives you for all time.
[DT 4:41] Then Moses set aside three cities east of the Jordan, [42] to which anyone who had killed a person could flee if he had unintentionally killed his neighbor without malice aforethought. He could flee into one of these cities and save his life. [43] The cities were these: Bezer in the desert plateau, for the Reubenites; Ramoth in Gilead, for the Gadites; and Golan in Bashan, for the Manassites.
[DT 4:44] This is the law Moses set before the Israelites. [45] These are the stipulations, decrees and laws Moses gave them when they came out of Egypt [46] and were in the valley near Beth Peor east of the Jordan, in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon and was defeated by Moses and the Israelites as they came out of Egypt. [47] They took possession of his land and the land of Og king of Bashan, the two Amorite kings east of the Jordan. [48] This land extended from Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Gorge to Mount Siyon (that is, Hermon), [49] and included all the Arabah east of the Jordan, as far as the Sea of the Arabah, below the slopes of Pisgah.
[DT 5:1] Moses summoned all Israel and said:
Hear, O Israel, the decrees and laws I declare in your hearing today. Learn
them and be sure to follow them. [2] The LORD our God made a covenant with
us at Horeb. [3] It was not with our fathers that the LORD made this covenant,
but with us, with all of us who are alive here today. [4] The LORD spoke
to you face to face out of the fire on the mountain. [5] (At that time I
stood between the LORD and you to declare to you the word of the LORD, because
you were afraid of the fire and did not go up the mountain.) And he said:
[DT 5:6] "I am the LORD your God, who brought
you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
DT 5:7 "You shall have no other gods before me.
DT 5:8 "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything
in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. [9] You
shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am
a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the
third and fourth generation of those who hate me, [10] but showing love
to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.
DT 5:11 "You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the
LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
DT 5:12 "Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the LORD your
God has commanded you. [13] Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
[14] but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall
not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant
or maidservant, nor your ox, your donkey or any of your animals, nor the
alien within your gates, so that your manservant and maidservant may rest,
as you do. [15] Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the LORD
your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched
arm. Therefore the LORD your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath
day.
DT 5:16 "Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has
commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you
in the land the LORD your God is giving you.
DT 5:17 "You shall not murder.
DT 5:18 "You shall not commit adultery.
DT 5:19 "You shall not steal.
DT 5:20 "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
DT 5:21 "You shall not covet your neighbor's wife. You shall not set
your desire on your neighbor's house or land, his manservant or maidservant,
his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor."
[MT 21:1] As they approached Jerusalem and came
to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, [2] saying
to them, "Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find
a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to
me. [3] If anyone says anything to you, tell him that the Lord needs them,
and he will send them right away."
MT 21:4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:
MT 21:5 "Say to the Daughter of Zion, `See, your king comes to you,
gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.' "
[PS 139:23,24] Search me, O God, and know my
heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive
way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Psalm 27 Of David.
PS 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation-- whom shall I fear? The LORD
is the stronghold of my life-- of whom shall I be afraid?
PS 27:2 When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies
and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall.
PS 27:3 Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break
out against me, even then will I be confident.
PS 27:4 One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell
in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty
of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
PS 27:5 For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a
rock.
PS 27:6 Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me;
at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make
music to the LORD.
PS 27:7 Hear my voice when I call, O LORD; be merciful to me and answer
me.
PS 27:8 My heart says of you, "Seek his face!" Your face, LORD,
I will seek.
PS 27:9 Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in
anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, O God my
Savior.
PS 27:10 Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me.
PS 27:11 Teach me your way, O LORD; lead me in a straight path because of
my oppressors.
PS 27:12 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses
rise up against me, breathing out violence.
PS 27:13 I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD
in the land of the living.
PS 27:14 Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
[ISA 43:1] But now, this is what the LORD says--
he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not,
for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
ISA 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when
you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk
through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
ISA 43:3 For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead.
[PR 28:23] He who rebukes a man will in the end gain more favor than he who has a flattering tongue.
[1KI 3:5] At Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon
during the night in a dream, and God said, "Ask for whatever you want
me to give you."
1KI 3:6 Solomon answered, "You have shown great kindness to your servant,
my father David, because he was faithful to you and righteous and upright
in heart. You have continued this great kindness to him and have given him
a son to sit on his throne this very day.
1KI 3:7 "Now, O LORD my God, you have made your servant king in place
of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to
carry out my duties. [8] Your servant is here among the people you have
chosen, a great people, too numerous to count or number. [9] So give your
servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between
right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?"
1KI 3:10 The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this. [11] So God
said to him, "Since you have asked for this and not for long life or
wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for
discernment in administering justice, [12] I will do what you have asked.
I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have
been anyone like you, nor will there ever be. [13] Moreover, I will give
you what you have not asked for--both riches and honor--so that in your
lifetime you will have no equal among kings. [14] And if you walk in my
ways and obey my statutes and commands as David your father did, I will
give you a long life."
[PS 73:1] Surely God is good to Israel, to those
who are pure in heart.

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again:
Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not
be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with
thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which
transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ
Jesus.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever
is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever
is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such
things.
[NU 6:24-26] The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine
upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give
you peace.
