(Act 5:42 Never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that JESUS is
the Christ
(1JN 5:1) Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God
[EZE 37:23] They will no longer defile
themselves with their idols and vile images or with any of their offenses, for
I will save them from all their sinful
backsliding,
and I will cleanse them. They will be my people, and I will be their God.
In the book of Acts, the writer states:
[AC 4:32-37]
All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his
possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. With great power
the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and
much grace was upon them all. There were no needy persons among them. For from
time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from
the sales and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone as
he had need.
Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means
Son of Encouragement), sold a field he owned and brought the money and put it
at the apostles' feet.
[AC 5:1-11] Now
a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of
property. With his wife's full knowledge he kept back part of the money for
himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles' feet.
Then Peter said, "Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart
that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the
money you received for the land? Didn't it belong to you before it was sold?
And after it was sold, wasn't the money at your disposal? What made you think
of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God."
When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who
heard what had happened. Then the young men came forward, wrapped up his body,
and carried him out and buried him.
About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. Peter
asked her, "Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the
land?"
"Yes," she said, "that is the price."
Peter said to her, "How could you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord?
Look! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they
will carry you out also." At that moment she fell down at his feet and
died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and
buried her beside her husband. Great fear seized the whole church and all who
heard about these events.
Moses to the Israelites
[DT 29:9-21] Carefully follow the terms of this
covenant, so that you may prosper in everything you do. All of you are standing
today in the presence of the LORD your God--your leaders and chief men, your
elders and officials, and all the other men of Israel, together with your
children and your wives, and the aliens living in your camps who chop your wood
and carry your water. You are standing here in order to enter into a covenant
with the LORD your God, a covenant the LORD is making with you this day and
sealing with an oath, to confirm you this day as his people, that he may be
your God as he promised you and as he swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and
Jacob. I am making this covenant, with its oath, not only with you who are
standing here with us today in the presence of the LORD our God but also with
those who are not here today.
You yourselves know how we lived in Egypt and how we passed through the
countries on the way here. You saw among them their detestable images and idols
of wood and stone, of silver and gold. Make sure there is no man or woman, clan
or tribe among you today whose heart turns away from the LORD our God to go and
worship the gods of those nations; make sure there is no root among you that
produces such bitter poison.
When such a person hears the words of this oath, he invokes a blessing on
himself and therefore thinks, "I will be safe, even though I persist in
going my own way." This will bring disaster on the watered land as well as
the dry. The LORD will never be willing to forgive him; his wrath and zeal will
burn against that man. All the curses written in this book will fall upon him,
and the LORD will blot out his name from under heaven. The LORD will single him
out from all the tribes of Israel for disaster, according to all the curses of
the covenant written in this Book of the Law.

The faithless will be fully repaid for
their ways, and the good man rewarded for his.
Jeremiah's proclaims the Day of Disaster
[JER 17:5-8] This is what the LORD says:
"Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his
strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD.
He will be like a bush in the wastelands; he will not see prosperity when it
comes. He will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt land where
no one lives.
"But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in
him.
He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the
stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has
no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."
Ezekiel's Strong Words
[EZE 18:19-32] "Yet you ask, `Why does the
son not share the guilt of his father?' Since the son has done what is just and
right and has been careful to keep all my decrees, he will surely live. The
soul who sins is the one who will die. The son will not share the guilt of the
father, nor will the father share the guilt of the son. The righteousness of
the righteous man will be credited to him, and the wickedness of the wicked
will be charged against him.
"But if a wicked man turns away from all the sins he has committed and
keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, he will surely live; he
will not die. None of the offenses he has committed will be remembered against
him. Because of the righteous things he has done, he will live. Do I take any
pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign LORD. Rather, am I
not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?
"But if a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits sin and
does the same detestable things the wicked man does, will he live? None of the
righteous things he has done will be remembered. Because of the unfaithfulness
he is guilty of and because of the sins he has committed, he will die.
"Yet you say, `The way of the Lord is not
just.' Hear, O house of Israel: Is my way unjust? Is it not your ways that are
unjust? If a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits sin, he
will die for it; because of the sin he has committed he will die. But if a
wicked man turns away from the wickedness he has committed and does what is
just and right, he will save his life. Because he considers all the offenses he
has committed and turns away from them, he will surely live; he will not die.
Yet the house of Israel says, `The way of the Lord is not just.' Are my ways
unjust, O house of Israel? Is it not your ways that are unjust?
"Therefore, O house of Israel, I will judge you, each one according to his
ways, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent! Turn away from all your offenses;
then sin will not be your downfall. Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have
committed, and get a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die, O house of
Israel? For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign
LORD. Repent and live!
The Word of the LORD to Ezekiel
[EZE 33:10-16] "Son of man, say to the
house of Israel, `This is what you are saying: "Our offenses and sins
weigh us down, and we are wasting away because of them. How then can we
live?" 'Say to them, `As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I
take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from
their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, O house
of Israel?'
"Therefore, son of man, say to your countrymen, `The righteousness of the
righteous man will not save him when he disobeys, and the wickedness of the
wicked man will not cause him to fall when he turns from it. The righteous man,
if he sins, will not be allowed to live because of his former righteousness.'
If I tell the righteous man that he will surely live, but then he trusts in his
righteousness and does evil, none of the righteous things he has done will be
remembered; he will die for the evil he has done. And if I say to the wicked
man, `You will surely die,' but he then turns away from his sin and does what
is just and right--if he gives back what he took in pledge for a loan, returns
what he has stolen, follows the decrees that give life, and does no evil, he
will surely live; he will not die. None of the sins he has committed will be
remembered against him. He has done what is just and right; he will surely
live.

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again:
Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be
anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with
thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which
transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ
Jesus.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever
is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is
admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such
things.LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and
be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.
